Partnering with Nordic power producers to unlock flexibility and AI-driven value
About Us
Gnist Energi is an industrial and financial partner for Nordic power producers in wind, solar and hydropower.
We provide a complete framework for hybridising existing assets — combining technical execution, regulatory experience, financing and commercial structuring to make hybridisation fast, realistic and profitable.
Our flexible business model allows us to adapt to each producer’s needs and ambitions — from technical optimisation to ownership participation and project financing.
For our investors, Gnist Energi’s ambition is to build a platform with 1 GW of operational hybrid and flexible assets by 2032, primarily within the Nordic region
“There is massive untapped potential in existing renewable power assets – technically, financially, and operationally. At Gnist Energi, our mission is to unlock this value.“
Sverre Isak Bjørn, Founder & CEO
Our strategy
Gnist Energi unlocks additional value from Nordic renewable infrastructure — by combining wind, battery storage, and digital trading in one scalable platform.
We acquire and upgrade real assets to:
- Boost output
- Monetize flexibility
- Deliver strong, long-term returns
Our platform is built for:
- Investors seeking cash-flowing infrastructure
- Asset owners navigating volatile markets
- Grids and industries demanding resilience and control
Our platform is built around three integrated pillars that together unlock the full value of renewable generation
Gnist Energi transforms undervalued wind and flexibility assets into investable platforms — by owning control, improving performance, and structuring for scale.
We operate through three pillars:
Gnist Wind
Owning and improving hybrid-ready renewable assets
Gnist Wind takes equity positions in renewable producers where hybridisation creates tangible value.
Our first equity investments are in onshore wind, but we will gradually expand to include solar and small-scale hydropower where hybridisation offers a clear upside.
Through ownership, operational improvement and strategic hybridisation, we enhance asset performance and prepare projects for flexibility integration.
- SPA signed with Solvind Åsen AS (1.6 MW wind park, Norway).
- Focused initially on wind parks in merchant markets, with expansion to solar and hydro.
- Improves operations, capture rate and readiness for hybrid battery integration.
- Co-investment model ensures Gnist shares in the upside created by hybridisation.
- Flexible structures — from minority ownership to full project management partnerships.
We are opportunity-driven — investing, partnering or co-owning where hybridisation strengthens both the producer and the platform.
Gnist Battery
Flexibility made simple
Gnist Battery enables producers to access flexibility without investing themselves.
We finance and operate battery systems that integrate directly with existing generation assets.
Gnist Battery purchases the power from the producer via a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), assumes balance responsibility, and manages the flexibility and market operations through the hybrid system.
- Typical integration: 1 MW / 2 MWh battery systems co-located with wind, solar or hydro assets.
- Gnist Battery finances and owns the battery installation.
- The producer receives a variable revenue share based on the hybrid system’s performance.
- Gnist manages regulatory compliance, market interface and operational optimisation.
- Financial structures (leasing, co-financing, revenue sharing) are tailored to each partner.
You focus on producing renewable energy — we handle the financing, flexibility and commercial optimisation of the hybrid system.
Gnist Markets
Turning data and flexibility into value
Gnist Markets is the digital layer of our platform — combining data, AI and market experience to optimise how hybrid assets perform across day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets.
Our proprietary optimisation algorithm is under development, and in the meantime, we collaborate with selected BRP/BSP partners to operate and learn from live market data.
- Real-time market access through licensed trading partners.
- Optimisation based on price forecasting, flexible dispatch and portfolio balancing.
- Long-term goal: full automation and portfolio-wide optimisation through Gnist’s AI platform.
- Data-driven foundation for hybrid asset management and investor reporting.
We use data, algorithms and partnerships to ensure every hybrid asset performs at its full market potential.
Together, these three pillars form a scalable, adaptable and financed model for the future of renewable ownership.
Gnist Energi partners with Nordic power producers to deliver financing, flexibility and optimisation — allowing producers to focus on what they do best: producing renewable power.
For our investors, this represents a clear growth path: building a 1 GW platform of hybrid and flexible assets by 2032, combining industrial partnership, financial strength and digital innovation.
